  • Vegan superfest VegfestUK drew a massive crowd of around 9,400

The rise of veganism in the UK was in full view at the weekend’s action at the Brighton Centre where around 9,400 visitors were packed into this prime exhibition venue on the South Coast overall, all enjoying 2 days’ worth of vegan feasting and learning more about following a vegan way of life.

Debuting at VegfestUK Brighton 2017 is an Easy Veganism section with the most common FAQ’s about veganism answered by a large collection of experts and star guests. Kindly joining the event in this area are actor Peter Egan, TV presenter Wendy Turner-Webster, actress Carol Royle, film director Otto Brockway, model Victoria Eisermann, Lush Cosmetics ethical director Hilary Jones, strongman Patrik Baboumian, cyclist Christine Vardaros, triathletes Kate Strong and Dave Sheahan, plus many others. All sessions from this new area were recorded and will be available to view on VegfestUK’s Youtube channel www.youtube.com/vegfestuktv near the end of March 2017.

The VegfestUK organisers added, “It’s fantastic to be able to showcase to our visitors how easy and accessible it is and certainly has become for everybody to be vegan in this day and age especially, with the plethora of vegan options available as showcased by our stallholders as well as our educational sections. And to be able to attract the calibre of special guests all under one roof, it’s truly incredible. Big big thanks too to all our stallholders, speakers, performers, and many other supporters who have kindly backed our event and made it so successful - we really appreciate it.”

Other highlights of the event include: a Vegan Comedy Festival with over a dozen vegan standup comedians, Vegan Film Festival showcasing about half a dozen feature length documentaries on veganism, an Intersectional Vegan Summit discussing intersections of social justice issues from a vegan perspective, a Vegan Food Village loaded with vegan feasts, tons of special offers from over 200 colourful stalls, plus the usual VegfestUK mix of talks, cookery demos, kids activities, magic shows, on top of a Teen Zone for teenage vegans to hang out and a Mature Zone for older vegans to learn more about veganism.

  • Robin S, Danny Rampling, Rozalla and Dub Pistols headline 15th annual vegan festival on Bristol Harbourside

Now in its 15th year, VegfestUK Bristol is set to celebrate with a massive House Party on Saturday May 20th 2017. Billed as the “Show Me Love” party, and headlined with a live set from Robin S, along with DJ Danny Rampling, and Rozalla (Everybody’s Free), the event harks back to the heady days of rave music from the early 90’s….and then on Sunday, Dub Pistols headline alongside South African reggae acts ZionRuts and local Bristol-based hip-hop crew The Scribes.

“Saturday is definitely what you might call a house party with an extra sprinkling of quattro formaggio with grated mozzarella and some melted ‘Sheese’ – all vegan of course,” say VegfestUK organisers. “Danny Rampling is of course a household name for many following his long-time stints on Radio 1, and we’re particularly thrilled to welcome Robin S from the USA who many will remember for her iconic multimillion-selling hit ‘Show Me Love’. Likewise, Rozalla, who had a huge hit with ‘Everybody’s Free’ will be performing live. And if that wasn’t enough, we also have Nicky Holloway, the original house promoter from the Shoom days of the mid-80’s, which was at the very heart of original house music as we know it today.”

“The Sunday lineup has a traditional reggae / hip-hop / dub feel to it, with Dub Pistols headlining and ZionRuts from South Africa supporting alongside local Bristol hip-hop talents The Scribes. We will be expecting capacity crowds on both days.”
