The event organiser – which regularly attracts more than 15,000 people to its festivals in various parts of the country, including the iconic Olympia in London – has pivoted to an online offering for its next three events due to the COVID-19 crisis.
The partnership is a continued collaboration between the two businesses, which began in 2017 at the inaugural VegfestUK Trade, the UK’s first vegan trade show.
Katrina Fox, founder of Vegan Business Media – a content, events and training platform for vegan entrepreneurs – will help shape the program for the Trade Days at the virtual events, starting with the upcoming Summerfest on Friday 14 August, 2020, followed by the renowned London VegfestUK event in November, and the Plant Powered Expo in March 2021.
“VegfestUK broke new ground in 2017 by providing a dedicated day for trade professionals in the vegan and plant-based sector,” said Fox. “I loved organising and hosting part of the business support program then and I’m so happy to be teaming up with VegfestUK again to help ensure a diverse range of speakers, discussions and educational content specifically for trade professionals in this new online format.”
Tim Barford, founder of VegfestUK, said the organisation is keen to continue to provide a platform to bring industry professionals together to continue the growth of the vegan and plant-based sector.
“Although COVID-19 has thrown up some major challenges for VegFestUK, we’re seeing some benefits to a virtual, online offering, especially for the Trade and Media Day,” said Barford. “It’s not just exhibitors who find ‘live’ Trade shows expensive, but also delegates. The costs for an independent health store, for example, to send a delegate to a live Trade show makes it prohibitive for many. The online option is a lot more inclusive and a lot easier logistically for Trade delegates to do business without the additional costs, time and labour to visit these events in person. We see a real future in the development of the online Trade and Media show.”
The Trade and Media Day is part of the overall weekend event VegfestUK Summerfest Online, which is open to the public and free to attend on the weekend and set to attract around 10,000 visitors.
Registration is now open for the UK’s only vegan Trade and Media event in 2020:
VegfestUK organises the UK’s biggest vegan events including the annual flagship event at Olympia London. Currently VegfestUK events are all online due to the COVID-19 situation. VegFestUk Summerfest Online takes place 14-16 August, 2020, with the Trade Day on 14 August. VegfestUK London Online follows on 13-15 November, 2020 then Plant Powered Expo Online on 19-21 March, 2021.
