One Planet Pizza Launch Party at the Vegan Party Conference

24th September 2024

With the Vegan Party Conference shaping up in full effect for the weekend September 28th 29th, with a gathering of core vegan community, activists, campaigners, groups and individuals that make up the UK vegan animal rights and plant based collective, there’s a definitive theme of celebration running throughout – and that’s encapsulated by the One Planet Pizza after party at the Conference, which sees the vegan pizza heroes celebrate their upcoming launch into Morrisons in style. Many of the movers and shakers in the vegan movement will be gathered to celebrate this achievement at a time when so many vegan businesses have struggled, and owners Mike and Joe and their hard working team will be in the mood to party.

‘We’re thrilled to be hosting such a success story at the conference’ say the organisers ‘and with so much good news to celebrate this weekend, its great to put the icing on the vegan cake with sharing the success of the much loved One Plant Pizza, who have been attending our shows since their conception in 2016. It’s a real achievement for an independent family owned vegan business to have enabled such growth and sustainability in these challenging times and we are thrilled to be celebrating this success with the party on Saturday. What a result for the whole team!’

The Vegan Party Conference takes place weekend Sept 28th 29th at Kensington Town Halls, with around 55 stalls and a series of panels, workshops, presentations and interviews across the weekend focusing on veganism, animal rights and plant based food options. Everyone is welcome to attend the Conference, with tickets available priced £10 day and £18 weekend from the website www.vegfest.co.uk/vpc-24/tickets/

GRAB A SLICE OF THE ACTION – PLANT-BASED PIZZA COMPANY ‘ONE PLANET PIZZA’ LAUNCH A UK SUPERMARKET FIRST

One Planet Pizza, the fast-growing plant-based pizza company, is launching in Morrison’s nationwide from October with a frozen category first, a plant-based Tex Mex pizza.

One Planet Pizza originally launched into Asda with their trademark sourdough plant-based pizzas. Since then, they have grown fast, outpacing plant based growth and developing several new recipes. Now, chefs at One Planet Pizza have developed a plant-based version of a UK favourite, Tex Mex. Like the rest of the range, the new variant combines One Planet Pizza’s popular wood fired sourdough base with rich tomato sauce and a unique and highly acclaimed white bean based cheese (a high protein secret weapon which makes their pizzas around 35% lower fat than the market1). To top it all off, the Tex Mex is covered with marinated vegetables and sprinkled with jalapeños for a little kick.

One Planet Pizza was founded by father and son team, Mike and Joe Hill, with a clear mission to revolutionise the freezer aisle and get more people excited about plant-based food. Since their inception in 2016, they have grown rapidly, now listed in Morrison’s, Asda, Booths, and across 6 markets, with a passionate fan base of vegans and flexitarians alike.

Joe Hill, co-founder of One Planet Pizza and guest Judge on BBC’s The Apprentice, says “We can’t wait to spice up Morrison’s freezers with our outrageously tasty Tex Mex. Our mission has always been to make vegan pizzas SO good that even meat eaters want a slice! We’re pretty proud that our strong sales, reviews, and brand growth suggest we are doing exactly that!”

Mike and Joe are both passionate long term vegans who believe strongly in the power of plant-based foods to tackle the climate crisis. Adopting a plant based diet can reduce carbon footprint by up to 52%2, though some sources think it could be far higher, so the pair developed hundreds of different recipes in their search for the perfect combination of toppings and sourdough base to make pizzas which appeal to everyone. The glowing reviews and strong sales suggest that their mission is well underway.

One Planet Pizza will be available in Morrison’s estate from October 2024
