Alistair Stewart

Plant Based Universities

Alistair is from London and studied linguistics at the University of Cambridge for his undergraduate degree before spending four and a half years in the British Army. Having left the Army in 2022, he went vegan and started a master’s degree at University College London (UCL) in political science and ethics, where he soon became involved in animal rights advocacy and activism: initially with UCL Animal Rights Society and the animal rights non-profit Surge, and later with Animal Rising and Plant-Based Universities (PBU). He wrote his master’s dissertation on open rescue – a type of direct action used by animal rights activists – and is now the PBU regional coordinator for London, the East of England and the East Midlands.
