Gemunu de Silva is a veteran animal rights investigator, photojournalist and founder of Tracks Investigations. He began investigating animal exploitation in the mid-1980s and was the first activist to film covertly inside UK factory farms. His work helped pioneer undercover investigative techniques that later became central to animal protection campaigns worldwide.

In the 1990s, he established the first dedicated Investigations Unit at Compassion in World Farming, later serving as Director of Research and Investigations at Cruelty Free International, before founding Tracks Investigations in 2006. Since then, the agency has carried out over 300 investigations across 58 countries, supporting campaigns that have driven legislative reform and public accountability.

Alongside investigations, he explores culture as a tool for activism. Industry Standard is a vinyl album built from undercover field recordings, using sound to confront systems of exploitation and reach new audiences.
