Greek Animal Rescue GAR is a small UK registered charity dedicated to alleviating the suffering of neglected and stray animals in Greece. Run entirely by unpaid volunteers, the charity’s primary focus is funding and coordinating sterilisation campaigns to control dog and cat populations at source, alongside providing practical and financial support to local Greek animal welfare volunteers and shelters. GAR also facilitates the rehoming of a lucky few rescued animals, raises awareness of the plight of strays, lobbies for better animal welfare and works closely with partners all over Greece mainland and islands.
