Hazel Clarke

specialist in plant based diets and gastrointestinal conditions

Cheshire & Manchester based Dietitian specialising in plant based diets and gastrointestinal conditions.

I have a passion for plant-based diets. I relish guiding people when they adopt a plant-based or vegan diet or supporting them on their plant-based journey. I help people make informed choices about their health, nutrition, and sustainable choices, using the latest evidence based practice. I believe increasing plant-based foods in integral to health and the environment.

Additionally, I am very passionate about gastrointestinal health, especially inflammatory bowel disease. I support people with the following conditions:
– Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD),
– Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS),
– stoma guidance,
– diverticular disease,
– pancreatic enzyme insufficiency.

I am currently working at MFT NHS as a Specialist Gastrointestinal Dietitian, and have previously worked as a clinical dietitian in Imperial Trust London. I have worked with public health organisations in weight loss, and as a research dietitian at King’s College London, researching IBD. I am published in 3 papers currently.

I am registered with the Health & Care Professions Council and hold full membership with the British Dietetic Association

This talk will explore how a plant based diet can impact your gut health. It will explore the impact of the plant based diet on our gut microbiome, and in turn how this can impact gut symptoms such as altered bowel habits (diarrhoea, constipation, bloating).

Further the talk will briefly summarise how the plant based diet affects gut conditions, such as IBS, IBD and diverticulitis.
