Food and Farming Campaigner Animal Aid

Rob works with Animal Aid helping to challenge the animal agriculture industry, enlightening consumers on the positives of a plant-based diet and inspiring change. A vegan of 30 years, Rob was a ‘sport angler’ and worked in the fish farming industry before his epiphany. He has worked with several animal protection groups, giving educational talks, supporting investigations, campaigning on animal farming and other issues including vegan outreach.

Rob states “Having that conversation around how we treat animals, across all aspects of society, and the wider implications for our planet, biodiversity and ourselves, has never been more important.”

Animal Aid has been fighting animal abuse and promoting a cruelty-free lifestyle for almost 50 years. Its education team, and volunteer speakers, deliver talks and workshops in schools and colleges across the UK, 550+ in the last year alone.

Living Wild - But Far From Free

Living wild, but far from free, wildlife is continually persecuted. Labour’s election manifesto promised action for wild animals – to end the badger cull and ban snares. The panel will discuss these campaigns and how we ensure they stick to their promises.

We will also explore the campaign against shooting birds, and why being an environmentalist is an animal rights issue – the planet we live on is not ours, but one we share.

Takeaways

”Inform about latest campaign developments and action on legislative change to ban snares, and end the badger cull. Plus raise awareness of sport shooting and address how we can live alongside wildlife”
