Shutdown Wolverhampton Tracks is a grassroots campaign group dedicated to ending the cruelty of greyhound racing at the two Wolverhampton tracks (Dunstall Park and Monmore Green). In 2024, a greyhound died every three days in this cruel industry – dogs are frequently killed or injured, and routinely discarded if they don’t make the grade, leaving rescue and rehoming charities to pick up the pieces. The public are hoodwinked into believing that it’s all just harmless fun, that dogs love to race, and that all have a happy ‘retirement’ – but this is sadly just humane-washing. Local ”Shutdown” groups like ours are targeting each of the few (18) remaining dog tracks in England, in association with Animal Aid (https://www.animalaid.org.uk/issues/animals-in-entertainment/greyhounds/) , as part of a major campaign building up to the 100th year anniversary of greyhound racing in 2026.
