Veganism is a broad church and, on your journey, you will meet various touch points. This interactive workshop will help you work out what motivates you; what can you give and what change do you want to make and see? In law, animals are mere chattel and animal welfare does not evade death. In our empowerment, how can we overcome traumatic human indoctrinations like “survival of the fittest”, “dog eat dog” and what can you do to reshape law allowing animals (and humans) to be seen and giving animals their due rights?

If you’ve been an animal advocate for a while, chances are you’ve witnessed the far-reaching consequences of infighting and toxic communication that is endemic in our movement. In this workshop hosted by Jen Deighan-Schenk of We The Free, we will present the findings from our research into the aftermath of conflicts within multiple animal rights organizations, addressing complexities and persistent challenges.
Drawing from our own organizational experiences, we candidly discuss the impact of conflicts on advocacy efforts and team cohesion. Offering practical strategies that have proven effective, together we will workshop to explore areas where challenges persist and identify innovative solutions.

…using grassroots activism to end animal exploitation in zoos and circuses.
Join Freedom for Animals for an impactful workshop which will focus on the importance of
utilising grassroots activism and tactics when targeting your local zoo or animal circus. This
workshop is designed for both seasoned activists or people wanting to step into activism; the
only necessity being that you are passionate about animal rights and eager to make a difference
for animals in your local communities!
Participants will learn why grassroots activism is a critical strategy in the fight against the
exploitation of animals in entertainment. We’ll explore how local actions; from petitions and
protests to community education and lobbying, can effectively pressure zoos and circuses to
change their practices or shut down.
Animals suffer greatly in captivity, but together our movement has all the skills, knowledge and
passion to take crucial action and drive forward the impactful campaigns needed in the fight for
animal freedom. We want to highlight the powerful role YOU can have in your community to
drive change forward, so please, join us! And be part of the movement to end animal cruelty in
your community.
