Martial Arts and Veganism

A transformative talk that explores the intersection of veganism and martial arts. A journey fuelled by resilience, discipline, and purpose. I’ll be sharing my personal story, a life shaped by a commitment to compassion, physical mastery, and overcoming addiction.
From birth, I’ve never eaten any meat. I discovered martial arts, which became both my philosophy and physical practice. This unique synergy taught me the true meaning of strength – It’s not just muscle but in mind and spirit. I’ll discuss how veganism and martial arts have been transformative forces in my life, fuelling a journey form dependency on alcohol to a place of power and peace of mind.
We’ll dive into ways that veganism and martial arts reinforce each other, both as paths of discipline and ethical living. You’ll learn how martial artists and athletes can thrive on a plant based diet, how veganism fosters a mindset of compassion and endurance, and how these choices have helped me overcome personal challenges.

I will explain the fundamentals of growing strength and muscles and maximizing your athletic performance by being fully vegan. I myself started as very skinny teenager, stopped eating animals in 1985 and started to work out and build a strong body the natural way, winning several powerlifting titles and participating at the Spanish strongman league.

Join artist, author, musician and lifelong animal advocate Geoff Francis for a fascinating journey through 55 years of veganism and campaigning.
In this uplifting and insightful interview Geoff will share what inspired him to become vegan more than five decades ago – at a time when vegan food was not as abundance as now and the movement was still largely unknown. Before social media and the internet!
Geoff will look back at what life was like for vegans during the 1970s and 1980s, how attitudes have changed and what today’s movement can learn from those pioneering years.
Geoff’s remarkable career and life includes working in the worlds of music, art, writing, film and animal advocacy. He founded All Change Records, an influential chain of independent record shops in London’s West End – one even had its own veggie café inside.
Geoff also worked alongside well known animal advocates including Linda McCartney, Carla Lane and actress Rita Tushingham.
He will also talk about the story behind the brilliant Wot! No Meat?, the animal-friendly track he wrote which was performed by Captain Sensible and Rachel Bor – released in 1985.
Time for a revival we feel!
And here is a link to Weapons of Mass Destruction – a reworking of Geoff’s interactive installation London’s Frieze Art Fair some years ago – possibly the most significant Art Fair in the world.
The conversation will bring Geoff’s creative journey right up to date, exploring his life and work as an artist. His paintings and photography have attracted international interest and have been featured by Saatchi Art.
Geoff will also discuss his latest music and performances with US musician Darren Ginn:
Let’s Each The Rich and Love Songs to a Mother.

Vegan Women’s Club: Together We Are Stronger
Expect laughter, heartfelt stories and plenty of inspiration as Vegan Women’s Club brings vegan women together to share their voices, experiences and passion.
Our previous stage sessions have shown just how powerful our stage sessions can be.
Vegfest UK Bristol was absolutely packed and dynamic, with fantastic energy and connection. Birmingham brought tears, laughter and a wonderful sense of empowerment. Our session at Vegfest London last year was deeply moving, with personal stories that stayed with us long after everyone left the stage.
Each session offers a welcoming space where fellow vegan women can share a little about themselves, celebrate something positive and speak about what matters to them. Some stories are uplifting, others deeply emotional. Together, they reveal the strength, compassion and determination of vegan women, and the difference we can make.
You do not need to run a business, lead a campaign or have a public profile to have something valuable to share. Every woman brings her own experiences, ideas and perspective. Come along to listen, connect and enjoy being among women who share your values.
Founded by Karin Ridgers and Victoria Featherstone Pearce, Vegan Women’s Club launched in 2025. Since then we have brought women together through regular online meetups and in person events, creating opportunities for friendship, support and connection.
We are proud to have the support of our wonderful ambassadors: Heather Mills, Jasmine Harman, Dr Shireen Kassam, Juliet Gellatley and Wendy Turner-Webster.
We welcome vegan women of all ages, from all over the world. Whether you have been vegan for decades or are just beginning, there is a place for you in our community.
We are so excited to have this stage space, with super thanks and love to Vegfest for giving vegan women the opportunity to be heard, celebrated and connected.
Together we are stronger.
